The first tip is to study every day. If you don’t want to get a failing grade in class, then study enthusiastically. Do not study just for the sake of passing the class. Study because you have a more important goal in mind – to learn the language by heart because there must have been a reason why you enrolled in that class. Your reason may be upliftment of your career because you will be assigned in a foreign country where that language is the mother tongue.

The next tip is to spread your study of the foreign language throughout the day. It simply means you just don’t study after dinner. Here’s one way to do it. After waking up, preparing oneself and taking breakfast, you now take up your language lessons in the morning session. That forms part of your study. Never hesitate to ask your instructor if there are any clarifications you want to point out. If you are ashamed to ask, then you’ll never know if the pronunciation of a particular term that you’re in doubt is really wrong. Mistakes are part of learning to acquire a foreign language so these are perfectly normal. After the morning session and during siesta time after taking your lunch, you may want to review your notes and practice aloud. Always practice aloud so you will know whether you sound awkward or not. Then after the last afternoon session ends at 3 p.m., you can now head home and practice again there. Then you’ll have your free time and after your dinner, you may practice the second language again in between your favorite TV shows. Practice intermittently. Always recite in class not necessarily to become a teacher’s pet but for your own good. If the instructor can find mistakes in your answer, then take the correction in a positive way – that you have learned something new at the time. Along this character is to learn to accept the opinion of your classmates. If your classmates have new inputs or tips in how to acquire the foreign language faster, then accept them willingly. Be friendly to your classmates so they can always be cordial in sharing their inputs to you. Don’t treat yourself as a braggart, as someone omnipotent in learning the foreign language by yourself.
